My attempt at an older style

Cool November wind, ever reminder of winter around the corner
Stir up the leaves from a surface grave and dance
Oh dance with me upon the windowsill
We watch young lovers pass below and wonder do they see us?
My phantom friend lean in - kiss me quick!
Winter is fast approaching and you will be gone
Before we say goodbye, goodnight let us stroll across the midnight grounds
Roll and tumble along the grassy hill
What's that? Someone's coming - kiss me quick!
Winter is fast approaching and you will be gone.
December falling, a pale white interloper
Intruding on my autumnal reverie
I embraced a frozen figure; it left me hollow
And so I yearned for the warmth of a fire
The door was barred - I was left to wander
Lost among the silent beauty of the evening
Yet in the distance a song I heard
A lonesome sparrow, oh heart rejoice!
The amethyst dawn of spring is near.
Oh gentle morning, mild dawn
Awaken me with coaxing warmth
The smell of life surrounds the body
Weary with travel, heartsick with the cold
Of a winter's unforgiving hold
The promise of a new beginning - to make things right
Baptized in the dew of springtime
Under a golden blanket I lay
Dreaming of the sparrow's song
Which brought me to a newfound love.
